Thule Air Base lies on a valley plain between to ridges called the
North Mountain and the South Mountain. The plain slants gently
towards the ocean where a habour has been constructed. The islands
Saunders and Wolstenholme lies in the distance and further out you
can get a glimpse of the small island Dalrymple Rock called "Witch's
Tit".
Close to the base the old settlement is placed at the
foot of Mount Dundas proudly rising from the ocean. From here you
can look into the fiord north of Thule. This is the only fiord in
the world where three glaciers join forces and creates myriads of
icebergs. At the innermost glacier the radar station BMEWS is
placed.
