Northern Greenland
Most of the northern Greenland consist of the
worlds largest national park, patrolled using dog sledges by
the Sirius Patrol.
In the northeastern area only 950 km from the North Pole
lies Station Nord where 5 danish soldiers make sure that the
runway is clear for NATO aircrafts.
The Canadian Forces Station Alert is manned by 70-80
Canadian soldiers. Both stations get their supplies flown in
from Thule Air Base.
Greenland and Canada are separated by the Nares Strait,
which is only 26 km wide on the smallest place.
